Givin' 'Em the Bizness: Strength of Schedule = Wack

I've heard a lot of rapping this year about "strength of schedule," especially from Ute fans. To them I say: "Hang your greasy Miller Lite hat on something that actually has some merit."

Strength
of schedule is an inefficient / unproductive / meaningless way to evaluate a team's strength or quality of performance.

For example:
If USC played a 12 game schedule against the 12 teams ranked 108th to 120th and beat them all (naturally), this would tell us nothing of how good or bad USC really is. They may very well be the best in the country – we don't know because their strength of schedule tells us absolutely nothing.

Strength of schedule as a measure of a team's quality is useless. Useless – just like Ute fans. Interesting...
