Givin' 'Em the Bizness: 8 Seconds

Holy Jimmer.
Dude can play...and almost dunk.
Career night against the Broncos of Boise:
10 of 15 from the floor,
2 of 2 from the line,
4 steals,
23 points,
& 1 redheaded stepchild of a layup/dunk.
The way you tame those broncos, my main man, makes you more than just a cowboy –
you are . . .

The Horse Whisperer.

Givin' 'Em the Bizness: Reasons Why I Will Never Attend a BYU v. UofU Game at Lice Freckles

The integrity of my fan-ness was recently questioned because I "didn't have the guts" to attend the BYU v. UofU game in person.

Say what?!

I will never attend a BYU v. UofU game at Rice Eccles in person, not out of lack of fanhood, but for these reasons:

1. The frequency with which my ears will be assaulted by car horns blaring the "Godfather" theme as I pass through the tailgaters on my way to the stadium will make me spontaneously combust.

2. I have not kept to the pirate code laid down by Morgan and Bartholomew...

3. Being affiliated with the BYU side of things, I can actually afford DirecTV.

4. I heard Steve Tate's girlfriend (hold up – boyfriend?!) will be in attendance, leaving a minority portion of room for the rest of us.

5. I can't see the field for the plethora of these:

6. With the "fleshy tables" of her triceps insistently flapping, my primary chorister taught me to "hold to the rod, the iron rod."

Givin' 'Em the Bizness: Strength of Schedule = Wack

I've heard a lot of rapping this year about "strength of schedule," especially from Ute fans. To them I say: "Hang your greasy Miller Lite hat on something that actually has some merit."

Strength
of schedule is an inefficient / unproductive / meaningless way to evaluate a team's strength or quality of performance.

For example:
If USC played a 12 game schedule against the 12 teams ranked 108th to 120th and beat them all (naturally), this would tell us nothing of how good or bad USC really is. They may very well be the best in the country – we don't know because their strength of schedule tells us absolutely nothing.

Strength of schedule as a measure of a team's quality is useless. Useless – just like Ute fans. Interesting...
