The Prospectus: Signing Day

Like we all do when Hollywood Week on American Idol ends, we can breathe a collective sigh of relief now that signing day is finally over. Some, however, seem unable to let things go and move on. To them, we here at Electric Cougaloo have this to say:

Feeling ko'd by Te'o?
Ticked that Xavier chose not to be our savior?
Distraught that Van Noy has been a bad boy?
Well, take off that sackcloth and wipe off those ashes – Coach Mendenhall has promised that all is well.

Today Bronco reassured Cougar nation that
OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS:

1. BYU is the only non-BCS team,
and one of only 8 in all of college football,
that has finished in the top 25 each year

2. Only 5 teams have won more games

3. BYU is undefeated at home

All these are signs of a great program. For great programs, "5 star" recruits are not "make or break" recruits.

He also reminded us that the '09 recruiting class will be joined when they arrive by the team's returning missionaries.

And regarding Oklahoma, His Investedness declared:
"We're not afraid."

About Florida State:
"We expect to win."

To all those gnashing their teeth to nubs over Manti, Xavier, & Kyle,
we
say:
"Chillax."

And Kyle, if you're out there:
"2010 can't come fast enough.
Till then, we'll be waiting for you,
may Mama Heaps keep you in the hollow of her hands,
and this non-alcoholic brew's for you, buddy."
